AHEPA District 10 is pleased to announce that planning is underway for a testimonial honoring Brother Milton A. Gust : a man whose connection to our District is beyond measure. Brother Milton began his journey as a Son of Pericles in the Omega Chapter, later serving as Chapter President and District Governor during his time there. In 1975, he was tapped to lead the formalization of our Educational Foundation, an initiative that has now enjoyed fifty years of success in large part due to his unwavering commitment and priceless institutional wisdom, serving in various capacities over his 50 years of service there. Many brothers and sisters regard him as the father of that Foundation; quite simply, there would be no Educational Foundation as we have today without his extensive contributions over the 50 years of his service.
In addition to his service in the Omega Chapter, Brother Milton helped found the Aegean Chapter in 1987 to accommodate the Greeks and members moving to Sterling Heights and surrounding areas at the time. His service is legendary.
His dedication did not stop there. Brother Milton also served on the National Foundation, and in key leadership roles that resolved serious organizational issues at the national level, earning several recongitions in his time there for many years. He has given his life to the Order and stands as the quintessential example of what an Ahepan should be.
In accordance with Brother Milton’s wishes, all proceeds from the testimonial will fund a scholarship grant for youths going to school. Brother Milton extends a personal invitation to all past colleagues from the Foundation, past recipients of the scholarship, and all friends, associates, and brothers and sisters to attend. We are especially grateful to the Omega 371 Youth Committee, whose recent $8,000 sponsorship approved at their August Youth Committee meeting will offset overhead costs and allow the event to generate the potential for a generous scholarship to be awarded in Brother Milton’s name in rememberance of his testimonial. More details will come out soon.
Nonetheless, it is our duty to honor men like Milton. Testimonial dinners are a proud tradition within the Order of AHEPA, uniting people, especially here in District 10, across generations. By preserving and celebrating such traditions, we encourage both our youths and our older brothers and sisters to aspire to the same dedication, leadership, and service that Brother Milton exemplified.
Axios Brother Milton! Axios!
